Mynewsdesk makes its Digital Shoreditch debut

A little intro...

Digital Shoreditch is a festival which celebrates the “outstanding creative, technical and entrepreneurial talent of East London and Tech city.”  It's been so popular it’s hard to believe the festival is only in its third year.

From the 20th - 31st May 2013, Digital Shoreditch begins again and promises to be even bigger and better with over 400 sessions, workshops and networking events in the line-up.

It is of interest to anyone working in PR and communications as it brings together many related fields including marketing, strategic analysis, digital comms among many others.  As the festival connects people from many different backgrounds and experiences while giving them the opportunity to exchange ideas and expertise all participants, regardless of their field, will learn a thing or two!

The Mynewsdesk team would be delighted if you would join us in the upstairs venue of the 333 Mother Bar opposite Shoreditch Town Hall at 6pm until late on Tuesday 21st May for drinks, some networking and a dance.  Entrance is free so all that’s left is for you to sign up.

Tomorrow’s World

On Tuesday 21st May Tomorrow’s World will be focusing on the social and technological changes taking place within the digital space.  Learning how to use and adapt to these changes is imperative and can greatly increase the effectiveness of all forms of digital communications.  Adam Cranfield, CMO of Mynewsdesk, will be giving a talk at 4.30pm on The Content Race: Brands as Publishers in Shoreditch Town Hall.  He will focus on how modern brands can effectively exploit various communication channels whilst developing their own newsroom in order to tell their story.  

Adam will complement his talk with case studies which exemplify the phenomenon of online story telling.  He will show us why it is important for brands to become the publishers of their own stories and how they can do this most effectively.

Future Brands

Future Brands which will take place the following day.  Leading brands such as MTV, Adobe and Nokia will discuss the ways in which they have constantly innovated their practices in order to best communicate their stories.  The talks will lead onto what industry experts are expecting to happen next and how PR and communications professionals can plan for the future whilst continuing to communicate the story of their brands in the most effective and engaging way.  

Mynewsdesk’s Marketing Executive, Benjamin van Leeuwen, will be giving the talk What is a brand newsroom?  And why should I care? at 2.06pm.  He will demonstrate the ways in which comms departments have been utilizing newsrooms in order to successfully communicate the stories of their brands and how this has helped them to keep up with and exploit the latest technological advances.

Something a little different...

Behavioural Design, which takes place on Friday 24th May, looks at the decision making process from a scientific view point and aims to give a better understanding of how to influence this process both on and offline.  Through analyzing this from such a different perspective, PR and comms professionals can gain valuable insights into the decision making process and ultimately improve the content they create.

A digital festival unlike any other

Digital Shoreditch aims to be different and stresses that this festival is “not the usual sit down and be talked at” event.  The festival is organised around three main principles - Interaction, Matchmaking and Networking.  They offer short taster sessions to begin with so participants can pick and choose what they would like to delve into deeper later on in the day and who they’d like to discuss this with.  

A series of structured and unstructured networking events has been organised for participants to introduce themselves and meet friends, potential business partners and collaborators as well as clients.  Digital Shoreditch has also created a festival app in order to make the networking process easier and for attendees to connect with others based on mutual interests.  You never know, you could meet your next business partner.
