Mynewsdesk reveals new design — the biggest update in 11 years

Today, Mynewsdesk reveals a full redesign of the platform - the biggest product update set to be compliant with the new EU web accessibility directive.

The new design is a result of a close collaboration with customers, journalists and other users who use the platform to find and read news. The process was carried out with user tests and beta versions to continuously collect feedback and refine changes before the launch.

“This is the single biggest product update in Mynewsdesk history, and it would not have been possible without the close collaboration with users and customers. After all the hard work, we are really excited to launch. It will make a huge impact on the user experience, for both customers and journalists”, said Sara Manding Holm, Chief Product Officer at Mynewsdesk.

The design is meant to attract more readers with more prominent images, in line with the progress in the media landscape. As the journalists need for high-quality images is increasing, companies and organizations must pay more attention when selecting an image for their news stories or press releases.

Mynewsdesk also removed their own menu at the top, simplifying newsroom navigation and increasing brand focus for each customer. Additionally, companies can now modify the newsroom colors to match their own brand.

Accessible for everyone

More than 77 000 communicators use the Mynewsdesk platform to reach out with their news and press releases to journalists, media and other important stakeholders.

By September 2020, the new EU web accessibility directive passes into law for all public sector organizations. These requirements dictate that all websites and mobile apps must meet common accessibility standards. This includes making all content accessible via reading aids and enabling full functionality and navigation using a keyboard.

“All of our customers, public sector organizations as well as companies and other organizations, use Mynewsdesk to reach out with important information. Therefore, we wanted to quickly adapt the full platform to be compliant with the new directive to help increase the overall accessibility online”, said Sara.

The new design is available for all Mynewsdesk customers starting today.
