Press release -
Management changes at Mynewsdesk AB
Louise Barnekow, Mynewsdesk’s Chief Product Officer, has been appointed interim CEO of the company. Mattias Malmström, who has served as CEO since 2015, has decided to leave Mynewsdesk to pursue new career opportunities. The changes are effective as of today.
Louise Barnekow, Chief Product Officer at Mynewsdesk since October 2016, has been responsible for product development and management for the joint company Mynewsdesk and Mention following the acquisition of Mention in August 2018. She previously was Head of data and product development at Schibsted Sweden. Barnekow also has extensive media, product management and sales experience from such companies as Bredbandsbolaget and Telenor.
Commenting on his decision to leave the company, Malmström said: “I’m proud to have contributed to Mynewsdesk’s growth as well as to the strengthening our platform for global reach through the acquisition of Mention. It’s been extremely hectic and a lot of fun. With the ongoing integration of the two businesses, the role of CEO is changing, and I’d like to pursue other career opportunities. I wish my colleagues at Mynewsdesk and Mention all the best.”
A process to recruit a permanent CEO will begin this week.
“The board of Mynewsdesk thanks Mattias for important contributions to the business during the past four years and wishes him the best of luck in his future career. We are very pleased that Louise agreed to take on the position as interim CEO on short notice. Customer success, global growth and profitability are on top of our agenda.” said Hege Yli Melhus Ask, Chair of the Board of Mynewsdesk and Group CEO of NHST, of which Mynewsdesk is a wholly-owned subsidiary.
In her role as interim CEO, Barnekow will work closely with Matthieu Vaxelaire, Chief Operating Officer of the combined company, and the rest of the Mynewdesk and Mention team. The combined company employs 280 people in eight countries.
Barnekow said: “We get daily feedback from clients who tell us that the impact of their marketing and communications activities has improved greatly using Mynewsdesk and Mention’s platforms and services. Going forward, we will continue to improve our service offerings while increasing scalability.”
Mynewsdesk and Mention serve over 750,000 marketing and communications professionals in more than 125 countries. The platforms allow companies to improve and efficiently manage digital communications efforts through social listening, media monitoring, content publishing, media relations and analysis of marketing investments.
