P R The Champions!
"P R the champions - my friends. And we'll keep on tweeting till the end," as someone once almost sang. In a similar vein, @Mynesdesk_uk asked our Twitter friends to name their perfect PR tunes, using the hashtag #PRsong.
@jezashberry quickly set a high bar with "Press Release Me... let me gooo!" and we knew we were in for some fun.
Suggestions covered the full spectrum of PR, from social media: "Writing's On The (Facebook) Wall" (@IanSanders) and "I Heard It Through The Grapevine" (@thomassenland), to brand positioning: "The Message" (@greenwellys), to crisis comms: "Bridge Over Troubled Water" (@KellyQHicks).
Some were complimentary: "Pretty Persuasion" (@simonsanders) and "Smooth Operator" (@McGreer_PR). Others slightly more cynical: "9 to 5" (@workdocx), "Don’t Believe the Hype" (@neil_robertson).
For some reason, bending the truth was a popular theme: "Would I Lie to You?" (@londoncharlotte), "Do You Want the Truth?" (@Louiseb), "Liar!" (@dickyadams) and "Love The Way You Lie" (@GemmaWent).
The art of spin was championed by "You Spin Me Round" (@MrBoom, @GemmaWent) and "Ac-Cent-Tchu-Ate The Positive" (@workdocx).
@AdamVincenzini felt that "Whoomp! (There It Is)" was the perfect soundtrack to nailing some major coverage.
@stedavies thought PR was just about "Sex And Drugs And Rock N Roll".
@lakey's "Pressing The Flesh" by Kill The Client, may have been as much inspired by the band name? Well we all have days like that...
@communicatemag opined "Words Are Not Enough".
It was a tough task to pick a winner from all these and more, but when our Twtpoll results came in, there could be only one champion... "Informer" by Snow. Now we just need to hear @KellyQHicks try to sing it!
